I just grab whatever LEGO bits I find when at the Goodwill Outlet, making sure not to get any of the pale imitations. Years ago a box of this stuff got me a nice MacBook with an SSD in trade; I don’t know why I keep buying it, but when buying by the pound it seems pretty affordable. Maybe I just need to sit down and play with this stuff and try to bring back memories of the’70s.

As I clean out the basement and consolidate I’ll probably have more; I think I’ve got more of the robotic bits and pieces somewhere, but I just haven’t stumbled upon them yet. So much fancy stuff by comparison - I would have killed for these parts 40+ years ago...

First photo is of a bunch of Mindstorms 2.0 sensors and a servo. I am not seeing the main Mindstorms brain unit. The remnants of the plane fuselage appears to be either the 7734 Cargo Plane set or the 60022 Terminal Set.

I don’t know, but that airliner looks cool.

Looks like a month’s rent to me.

No idea how you got any of that at a Goodwill outlet. I’ve never even seen it at my normal stores - LEGO usually goes to their online auction and gets bid to the stratosphere.

That’s a bunch of stuff you should probably list on bricklink

Hmm, my landlord has a couple of kids and I’m a bit behind on the rent...

I don’t question how it ends up there - I just grab it. There was a time a few weeks ago that two of us had both grabbed for a minifigure; he got the body and I got the head. I usually wait for everyone to leave the bin for the next one and methodically grab and inspect each little piece. It takes quite some time, but I think the results have been worth it.

One piece I need to find, something that I tucked away for safe keeping, is a Darth Vader with light up lightsaber. That alone should be worth at least $25...

I’ll have to check that out. Do they do trades? I really want a spaceman minifigure like I had back in the ‘70s

The airplane parts came from this set:

You can tell because that green tail section only came in this set.

Kinja'd!!!

If that Technic motorcycle set has all the pieces, you should totally build it. It’s a fun one.

Yeah, I think I’m going to try that bike, you know, just to make sure it’s complete...

Really? I have thousands upon thousands of them, from my own childhood and my kid’s.

A friend of mine had one of those when we were kids. Still love it.

It’s insane. There are whole websites where people sell sets or individual pieces. Complete  sets are worth a fortune but even boxes of random bricks can get pricey.

If you have complete sets with packaging and papers, you’re sitting on a little treasure.

Even loose bricks have solid value.  I’ve flipped lego sometimes with amazing results.
